Question: if you were on a weekend break with family and friends, and found a hidden backpack full of cash, what would you do? And that is the joy of this novel, all the way through you can place yourself in among the characters and react to their decisions. Along the way I found myself raising my eyebrows, nodding, shaking my head, screwing my face up, and flinching… and it ensured I felt present and in the moment as I read.
T.M. Logan writes with an assured hand, it feels as though he would have had an absolute blast writing this. Short sharp chapters kept the story moving, while secrets, lies, and a whole load of doubt populate the pages. The likability scale of the characters ranges and changes as understanding comes into play, and I wondered whether I could actually trust anyone.
I thoroughly enjoyed the information drops that landed among the characters as truth bombs detonated and kept the story oh-so interesting. I think this has a rather fabulous ending, just a few words, yet full of impact and I clapped my hands in appreciation. Smart as heck and hugely entertaining, The Weekend makes for compulsive reading, so this comes with a whopping thumbs up from me.
