How To Be Famous by Alison Bond

Sarah Broadhurst's view...

A friendship novel, a Hollywood novel, an entertaining read packed with incident and the added bonus of authoritative insight into the Hollywood scene. The author has worked in the industry for seven years and this is obviously based on her experiences. It’s fast, glamorous, easy-read, addictive stuff with an interesting twist.

Comparisons: Marian Keyes, Jackie Collins, Louise Bagshawe.
Similar this month: Barbara Taylor Bradford, Julian Fellowes.

If you like Alison Bond you might also like to read books by Jackie Collins, Candace Bushnell and Tilly Bagshawe.

How To Be Famous by Alison Bond

Meet three women who have beauty to burn, talent to spare, and more dates than Hollywood has hills.

Lynsey Dixon works at CMG in London, a talent agency that specializes in neurotic actresses like Melanie Chaplin. After keeping her cool in a crisis, Lynsey is offered a transfer to L.A to help Melanie settle into a new television show – her big break. And Lynsey can recognize an opportunity when she sees one – an opportunity for serious star spotting and sunny days.

Melanie Chaplin is the star of a new hit TV series, the prize of CMG, the object of desire for LA’s hottest players. But being famous can make you forget yourself. Melanie has everything except Davey Black – the gorgeous director who is married in real life, but not in Melanie’s dreams…

Serena Simon didn’t exactly choose Hollywood – when you look as beautiful as Serena Hollywood is the only place to go. She has a plan, and it’s working; fame is only a photoshoot away. But she’s got a little secret. And secrets rarely stay that way in L.A…
