"A twisty tale of deception and murder, told against the backdrop of a strict Mormon community in Utah. "
All that faith healer Amber Lakes wanted was some stability for her family. A single mother to two teenagers, she moves to Utah after a whirlwind romance leads to marriage to Chad, a truck driver and fellow Mormon. The engagement to Chad, which was lightning quick, began at a retreat she runs in France and they soon decide to get married. How little she really knows him comes to have deadly consequences for her family.
The Dark Within Them by Isabelle Kenyon shows how a mother’s desire to provide her family with a traditional lifestyle and a father figure, comes at a harrowing cost.
Once Amber and her two teenagers Gilly and Ivan settle in Utah, she begins to understand how little she knows about her new husband, and the Mormon community that is so important to him. As they all adjust to the new normal, tensions begin to build.
The white picket fences in the Mormon community give the appearance of happy families, but instead only enclose deadly secrets. The claustrophobic Mormon community, complete with Postum (a coffee substitute, since Mormons don’t drink coffee), is richly drawn.
This twisty tale of deception and murder will leave you guessing until the final page.
