In a Nutshell: Iconic style, a bestselling brand, this is the quintessential pocket-sized travel guide to Munich and Bavaria.
This compact full-colour guide comes highly recommended to anyone planning to spend a few days exploring magnificent Munich and the wider area of Bavaria, with lots of interesting snippets of information on history and culture. But this guide really comes into its own in its provision of pertinent information about must-see sights – what to see, how to get there – and the clear maps. Another great bonus is the new dictionary section and regional expansion – this fresh edition covers top out-of-town treats like the Romantic Road.
Compact, concise, and packed with essential information, this is an excellent on-the-move companion when you're exploring Munich and the stunning surrounding area, and now includes a new dictionary section. The Top Ten Attractions and Perfect Day itinerary sections – covering the likes of historic Marienplatz, regal Residenz and the beer gardens of the Englischer Garten - save travellers time, while the handy colour maps on the inside cover flaps make navigation easy. This also includes an overview of landscape, history and culture, and essential practical information on everything from Eating Out to Getting Around. There’s inspirational colour photography throughout, and the sharp design and colour-coded sections make for an engaging, user-friendly experience.

Reader Testimonials for the Berlitz Guides:
This is a little pocket rocket of a travel guide. Fold out maps allow you to settle in while the first few pages encourage you to dip your toe in, to see what will work for you. I found the perfect day section so helpful, it suggests an itinerary to follow, starting with breakfast and finishing with dinner, it includes scenic drives, local history, beautiful walks and really whets the appetite for your chosen location. Bright pictures pepper the pages, alongside lots of helpful information on where to go. The ‘what to do’ section covers activities, entertainment and shopping with helpful information, such as safe swimming spots. You can take this pocket guide with you on your trip, and know that it contains travels tips that will be on hand if you need them, this is an all-round super little guide. Marion, Cumbria
Pocket sized guides that sure pack a punch, these little gems are full of useful information to help you make the most out of your trip. From essential practicalities to what to see and do, down to cultural tips and advice these guides are perfect for those limited on packing space. There are also good quality small fold out maps to hand on both the rear and front covers. Perfect little books bursting with bitesize information, there is even a ‘perfect day in…’ section plus the top ten attractions to help you make the most of your visit no matter how short or long your time there. Becky, Surrey
This series of books are handy pocket sized guides. Perfect for your handbag. Similar to the Rough Guide series, but with a little less information and the instead of a basic language guide, here you get a decent sized dictionary to help you with the language during your stay there. What I like about the Berlitz Pocket guide is that the pages are colour coordinated in order for you to find the section you need quickly. (i.e. the dictionary is edged in grey, What to do in red etc.) There are useful fold out maps in laminated card at the front and back of the guide. However, these are only for general navigation, not as detailed as the Rough Guide ones. Rachael, Glasgow
How can a pocket size book be packed with such relevant and informative information? A Berlitz travel guide can. I love them. Packed with travel advice and perfect to read to help make plans but also so useful when you are in the midst of your travels. The key highlights I love about Berlitz is the quality of the publication, the colour photos and the ‘snippets’ of information to help prioritise what to do when time may be limited. It is also interesting to read even if your holidays or weekend breaks do not include plans to visit a particular place. In the Bruges and Ghent Guide I found the excursion section to The War Cemeteries and also the overview of Belgium Beers fascinating – truly never realised there were so many – very interesting. The only negative would be there are now quite a few pages dedicated to a dictionary. I think a few translations would be useful but as I would typically just visit for a long weekend I would prefer the pages be used to provide more insight to the country from a visitor’s point of view rather than helping me learn to speak the language. A ‘must have’ especially in this world of trying to minimise baggage. Phyl, Edinburgh
The Berlitz Pocket Guides are a brilliant handy travel companion. As the name describes the books are small and pocket sized but they pack a punch. The guides come with an associated app for smart phones that also links to the guide book and gives you up to date information on events and activities in the area at the time of your visit. Each one also has a useful language section with tips on dialect as well as an extremely useful dictionary to help you communicate in the local language. Starting with a pull-out map the book then describes the top ten destinations to visit with full colour pictures. There is a detailed history of each destination which links to areas and places of interest that you may like to visit during your trip and all with plenty of full colour pictures and maps with incredibly detailed sections on the main areas and attractions. The Berlitz Pocket Guide series is a must have for any traveller. Ian and Julie, Co. Donegal
Berlitz Pocket Guides are priceless yet inexpensive travel companions for short breaks and long-haul journeys alike. Whether you are travelling to Austria or Australia, Vienna or Vietnam, the easy-to-use, colour-coded sections will enable readers to locate desired information efficiently. Those pondering over what to marvel at or which experiences to enjoy simply flick to the Where To Go and What To Do chapters, while those preferring to treat their taste buds head for Eating Out. Cover-flap maps are cross-referenced with authoritative text, which helps aid the reader experience, but confining price categories to Recommended Hotels does not. Guides open with Top 10 Attractions, followed by A Perfect Day In…, and contain a sprinkling of Features that provide fascinating historical nuggets and quirky facts. For those needing a bilingual language guide for on-the-spot referencing, they need look no further than Berlitz. The Dictionary, together with well-tested phrases within A-Z Travel Tips, will not only lead to envy but emulation by competitors. The Climate and Time Zones charts are not unworthy inclusions, to be sure, yet including hints on pronunciation would prove more worthwhile. While Berlitz Pocket Guides are small in design (15.8 x 1.1 x 10.7 cm), they are big in terms of reliability, meaning one should be the second most important item to pack after your passport. Lee Ruddin, Birmingham
Small enough to fit in your bag, and your pocket, it is still full of everything you need to know, complete with a Dictionary at the back of the book. Travel tips, and places to visit along with prices of entrance to castles etc. and what the climate is are all here at the turn of a page. Each place has beautiful photos to go with it, and a bit about the history and then culture. Anyone on a short break would find this pocket-sized guide, an asset and, like many guides it is ideal for an "Armchair Traveller’ like me too, and price wise, it won't break the bank! Angie, Lancashire
The Berlitz Pocket Guides are a handy pocket size and light to carry around. The pages are coloured at the top to make navigating the book easy. On the front and back flaps are full colour city maps and the flaps fold out into regional maps. At the front of the book is a list of the top 10 attractions and a suggested tour. There are full colour photographs throughout. A brief introduction and history is followed by the Where to Go section. This is divided into different regions. Each has information on the sights to be seen there and coloured boxes with historical information. History lovers will enjoy the guides as the sights described are nearly all historical. Sadly, there are no maps showing where the sights are located. The What to Do section does have ideas for other activities such as sports, entertainment, shopping, and there is a calendar of festivals. I liked the Eating Out section. This gives details of typical local foods and drinks to try, as well as a mini menu reader and places to eat listings for each region in the book, including a price guide. The A-Z Travel Tips section provides miscellaneous advice for travellers, including a website list. This is followed by the Recommended Hotels section, which contains listings for hotels in each region, including a price guide. At the very back of the book is an English to Greek and Greek to English dictionary, with phonetic pronunciation given. Rachel, London
