Sarah Broadhurst's view...

I do like a book that gives you not only a good story but an intriguing backdrop too. This highly astute tale of three female friends walking the Inca Trail is full of the wonder and history of Peru, fascinating, and also the wonder of love and the history of a declining marriage. I also love a book that gives you the unexpected. I sympathised with our heroine in her trapped life and cheered as she made her final decision. Really a very satisfying read on the complexities of modern marriage.

If you like Diana Appleyard you might also like to read books by Elizabeth Buchan, Amanda Brookfield and Joanna Trollope.

Synopsis

Every Good Woman Deserves a Lover by Diana Appleyard

Sasha feels that she is captive in a life which no longer satisfies her. Her children are critical, her husband unsupportive, and she is bored and unfulfilled. So, with two good women friends, she escapes to darkest Peru, to take on the challenge of a lifetime - to walk the Inca Trail. Amongst the grandeur of the mountains, and the glorious ancient civilisation of the Incas, she discovers that she can grab hold of her life and wrench it back before itâs too late. She embarks upon a love affair which takes her completely by surprise; she also finds disaster and the sound of her own laughter once more.
