Storm Front by John Sandford

Sarah Broadhurst's view...

If you’ve not read John Sandford before then you’re missing out on a great American thriller writer. But this book – the seventh in his Virgil Flowers series – is not the place to start, and, to be honest, even his most die hard fans might want to give this one a miss. Co-written for the first time it isn’t one of his best and though Virgil is as charming and there are as many dry laughs as ever it just doesn’t have the usual pace, thrills or plot fans expect from Sandford.

If you like John Sandford you might also like to read books by Harlan Coben, Lee Child and James Lee Burke.

Synopsis

Storm Front by John Sandford

In Israel, a man clutching a backpack searches desperately for a boat. In Minnesota, Virgil Flowers gets a message from Lucas Davenport: You're about to get a visitor. It's an Israeli cop, and she's tailing a man who's smuggled out an extraordinary relic-a copper scroll revealing startling details about the man known as King Solomon. Wait a minute, laughs Virgil. Is this one of those Da Vinci Code deals? The secret scroll, the blockbuster revelation, the teams of murderous bad guys? Should I be boning up on my Bible verses? He looks at the cop. She's not laughing. As it turns out, there are very bad men chasing the relic, and they don't care who's in the way or what they have to do to get it. Maybe Virgil should start praying.

They are bright, breezy and eager to offer a great book, then genuinely listen/respect the review one writes.

Maggie Crane

A well laid out site, I love the fact that is separates paranormal fiction from fantasy and horror, which other sites don't.

Jen Rainbow

It has opened my eyes to different authors and genres. Just log on and try, you will be surprised and not want for reading material again.
