The Directive by Matthew Quirk

Sarah Broadhurst's view...

A high stakes heist of the Federal Reserve! Great. Lawyer Mike Ford, whom we first met in The 500, is an ex-conman with a big heart and a brother, Jack, who seems to be an even bigger conman than Mike was. They get caught up in a very dangerous conspiracy and need to use their various old, and new, skills. So we get listening and viewing devices and computer hacking alongside good old lock picking. It is fascinating. There is a lot of finance and banking details explained too. It is compulsive stuff, highly recommended.

If you like Matthew Quirk you might also like to read books by Harlan Coben, Lee Child and John Grisham.

Synopsis

The Directive by Matthew Quirk

Ex-con Mike Ford has turned his life around and has now got it all. An amazing fiancee, a beautiful house, his own business and all of it strictly above board. But amid all the wedding preparations he can't help feel a certain pang for the excitement and danger of the life he's left behind. And then his brother, Jack, comes back into his life. He also seems to be going straight these days and despite his better judgement, Mike starts to trust him again. So when armed men burst in one night and kidnap Jack, Mike is determined to find out who has taken him and get him back. Using all his old criminal contacts and helped by the charismatic Tim Bloom head of Bloom Security, Mike has to go undercover and infiltrate the gang responsible. But caught between the police and the underworld, it's not clear who he can trust and the more corruption he finds the question is just how far up does it go?
