Game by Barry Lyga

Sarah Broadhurst's view...

Jazz, our protagonist, is only 17 but a lot has happened to him in his short life. He is the only child of a notorious serial killer, Billy Dent, who has brought his son up to follow in his footsteps. Billy is in prison but there is a copycat killer about and the police want Jazz’s help to apprehend him. Then Billy escapes jail and goes on the run. This is the second in a proposed trilogy designed for a teenage reader but so thrilling, exciting and insightful I would recommend it to all ages. The first is I Hunt Killers. There is a dangerous game afoot here, the action ramps up, there are casualties on both sides and very sadly no conclusion. You’ve got to get the next!

If you like Barry Lyga you might also like to read books by John Grisham, James Patterson and Anthony Horowitz.

Reviews

A riveting story for any reader capable of handling the violence, as Lyga juggles multiple points of view and elegant shocks and twists ... The character arcs are as fascinating as the gruesome murders - Publishers Weekly

Orchestrated so cunningly that rare indeed will be the reader who figures it out early ... You can't deny Lyga's ambition to craft the most serious (and bloodiest) crime series yet for teen readers - Booklist
