Just announced are the winners of the Theakstons Old Peculier Crime Awards and Denise Mina beat off stiff competition to win Crime Novel of the Year with her dark tale of corruption, cover-up and murder among Glasgow’s criminal underworld and the city’s politicians,
Gods and Beasts. She is the only author ever to have won the award two years running.
Also, a special presentation was made to Ruth Rendell, creator of Inspector Wexford, who became the winner of the fourth Theakstons Old Peculier Outstanding Contribution to Crime Fiction.
