Zhang Ping (1953- ) is an author from Shanxi Province. He has served in numerous official posts such as vice chairman of the China Writers Association alongside his writing career. His works include the novels Skynet, The Murderer and National Cadre, the short story collection Memorial for a Wife and the documentary novel Orphan's Tears. The Choice won the Fifth Mao Dun Literature Prize in 2000.
