Sir Edwin Arnold (10 June 1832 - 24 March 1904) was an English poet and journalist, educated at King's College London and University College, Oxford. His most famous work was the classic narrative poem The Light of Asia, an exploration of Buddhist philosophy, which earned him widespread acclaim. His journalistic career, which spanned more than 40 years, culminated in his serving as editor-in-chief of The Daily Telegraph. During his lifetime, he was also honoured with decorations by the rulers of Japan, Persia, Turkey and Siam.
