"William Wordsworth was an English poet, born in England on 7th April 1770. He was a Romantic poet who, with Samuel Taylor Coleridge, helped to launch the Romantic Age in English literature with their joint publication Lyrical Ballads in 1798. His most famous work, The Prelude is considered by many to be the crowning achievement of English romanticism. He died at Rydal Mount on April 23, 1850, leaving his wife Mary to publish The Prelude three months later."

He represented the Harlem Renaissance writers in the early 20th century, and self-published three poetry collections: A Little Dreaming in 1913, Visions of the Dusk in 1915, and Songs of the Soil in 1916. His poetry received much appreciation for his depictions of the rural life of New England, his command of American colloquial speech, and his realistic verse portraying ordinary people in everyday situations. He was honoured frequently during his lifetime and is the only poet to receive four Pulitzer Prizes for Poetry. He passed away peacefully in 1963."
