"Step into a shadowed realm where nothing is as it seems, and reality dances on the edge of illusion. Henry James's The Turn of the Screw is a masterpiece of ambiguity, a chilling tale that defies easy interpretation. Told through the eyes of a young governess, the story plunges readers into a haunting world of eerie whispers, mysterious children, and a sinister country estate. But is the darkness external—or does it lie within the human mind? James's novella is not just a ghost story; it is a psychological puzzle that invites endless debate. The genius of The Turn of the Screw lies in its refusal to offer clear answers, leaving readers questioning the nature of truth, sanity, and the power of perception. Its rich, atmospheric prose and layers of meaning create a tale that is as unsettling as it is captivating. Perfect for those who relish Gothic suspense, psychological intrigue, and the tantalizing possibility of the supernatural, this story lures you into a labyrinth of fear and fascination. Each turn of the screw tightens the tension, leaving you breathless until the final page."

70+ Anthology. African American literature. Novels and short stories. Poetry. Non-fiction. Essays:
"African American literature is the body of literature produced in the United States by writers of African descent. It begins with the works of such late 18th-century writers as Phillis Wheatley. Before the high point of enslaved people narratives, African-American literature was dominated by autobiographical spiritual narratives. The genre known as slave narratives in the 19th century were accounts by people who had generally escaped from slavery, about their journeys to freedom and ways they claimed their lives. The Harlem Renaissance of the 1920s was a great period of flowering in literature and the arts, influenced both by writers who came North in the Great Migration and those who were immigrants from Jamaica and other Caribbean islands. The collection includes works by such prominent masters of American literature as Frederick Douglass, Nella Larsen, Charles W. Chesnutt , Paul Laurence Dunbar, Phillis Wheatley, Langston Hughes, Booker T. Washington , W. E. B. Du Bois and many others. Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl
"Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl, written by herself is an autobiography by Harriet Ann Jacobs, a young mother and fugitive slave, published in 1861 by L. Maria Child, who edited the book for its author. Jacobs used the pseudonym Linda Brent. The book documents Jacobs's life as a slave and how she gained freedom for herself and for her children. Jacobs contributed to the genre of slave narrative by using the techniques of sentimental novels 'to address race and gender issues.' She explores the struggles and sexual abuse that female slaves faced on plantations as well as their efforts to practice motherhood and protect their children when their children might be sold away. In the book, Jacobs addresses white Northern women who fail to comprehend the evils of slavery. She makes direct appeals to their humanity to expand their knowledge and influence their thoughts about slavery as an institution. Jacobs began composing Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl after her escape to New York, while living and working at Idlewild, the Hudson River home of writer and publisher Nathaniel Parker Willis. Portions of her journals were published in serial form in the New-York Tribune, owned and edited by Horace Greeley. Jacobs's reports of sexual abuse were deemed too shocking for the average newspaper reader of the day, and publication ceased before the completion of the narrative. Notable works Harriet Ann Jacobs: Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl (1861)."
