If you like a bit of romance thrown in with a good mystery then this series by Deanna Raybourn fits the bill. Our heroine, Lady Julia Grey, finds herself following Nicholas Brisbane to his newly acquired estate on the Yorkshire Moors. Not only has Brisbane acquired an estate but also the family living there and as events unfold it seems his connection to the family may be closer than at first suspected. A great mix of mischievousness, mystery and romance makes this series a very entertaining read.
Grimsgrave Manor is an unhappy house, isolated on the Yorkshire moors, silent and secretive. But secrets cannot be long kept in the face of Lady Julia Grey's incurable curiosity. In the teeth of protests from her stuffy brother, Julia decides to pay a visit to the enigmatic detective, Nicholas Brisbane to bring a woman's touch to his new estate.
With degrees in English and History and a particular love of Regency and Victorian times, Deanna Raybourn is a committed anglophile. At her husband's insistence, she gave up teaching to devote her energies to writing. Clearly her husband knew what he was doing.
