Gun Machine by Warren Ellis

Lovereading view...

Great premise, a room in a deserted building crammed full of guns which have obviously recently been used. A lone detective stumbles upon them and finding the owner and reason for the collection becomes his obsession. This is very good indeed. Fast, slick, short, hard-hitting and laced with a certain amount of humour, it’s a terrific read.

If you like Warren Ellis you might also like to read books by Cory Doctorow, Malcolm Mackay and Patrick Quinlan.

Synopsis

Gun Machine by Warren Ellis

The room is full of guns. Old ones. New ones. Modified ones. Hundreds of them. This is a collection belonging to someone who's been killing a long time. Secretly. And very, very effectively. This is the impossible case that New York detective John Tallow has to solve, before the killer catches up with him. This is GUN MACHINE: a crime novel like none you've read before.

A magnificently entertaining gun held to the head of the crime thriller genre - Guardian

GUN MACHINE sees Ellis grab hold of the mainstream by its windpipe and demand acceptance; a perfectly flawless crime book with a feral glint in its eye. - Independent on Sunday
