A multi-layered thriller with lots of secrets and a fight for truth and power. The Rebirth is not your typical thriller novel. A Da Vinci Code-like search into the hidden meanings of history, art and philosophy in order to discover the truth of a secretive organisation made up of those in positions of power. All the while being chased by those that wish to silence them and pasts that continue to haunt. To borrow a phrase, V.P. Evans was playing chess while I was playing checkers, and Rebirth is a twisty thriller that took unexpected routes right up until its conclusion. A book that constantly drops clues, even if you only realise, as I did, after each revelation, and delivers a story that is unique and well-crafted. I liked that the narrative also gave us glimpses into other character’s perspectives, it helped to add depth to the plot. I think that this would be a great book for those who are wanting to combine the twists of a police thriller with the treasure hunt chase of a Dan Brown.

What a read! If you like complex, dynamic thrillers, then The Rebirth is definitely fiction worth reading. Full of twists and turns revealed via conspiracy theories, political agendas, spiritual beliefs and truly high-quality psychological crime writing. A very different approach to the traditional crime genre.
