The Darkening Hour by Penny Hancock

Lovereading view...

A dark, psychological thriller of obsession, dominance and murder, related by two women whose circumstances have forced them to rely on each other. One is the employer, middle-class and verging on instability; the other, her Moroccan maid is frightened of losing her position and becoming a virtual slave. The shock here is that the violence appears accidental and so the result on the two ‘ordinary’ women is startling. This is menacing stuff full of jealousy and resentment. She is a very intelligent writer.

If you like Penny Hancock you might also like to read books by Sophie Hannah, Rosamund Lupton and Helen Fitzgerald.
