This publication discusses intergenerational family relationships in the context of ageing societies. It evolved in the framework of the Multilinks research project and is based on data from the generations and gender programme (GGP). The GGP is a system of national generations and gender surveys (GGS) and contextual databases, which aims at improving the knowledge base for policymaking in the UNECE countries. In this publication the following issues are analysed: key premises, the demography of intergenerational family relationships, interdependencies between older and younger family members, gendered intergenerational regimes, and policy implications.
