Effect of Relaxation Meditation and Visualization on Patients With Coronary Heart Disease Synopsis

IMPORTANCE OF THE INVESTIGATION Coronary Heart Disease (CHO) or Coronary Artery Disease or Ischaemic Heart Disease is now proving to be one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality throughout the world. The main cause of this disease is deposition of cholesterol and fat in the inner smooth lining of the blood vessels ( coronary arteries) supplying blood to the heart resulting in their blockages and obstruction to blood flow through them. With significant blockages, more than 60 to 70 per cent, and exertion, the increased demand of blood by the heart is not met, and a sensation of pain is felt in the chest, usually called angina. Angina, more specifically, is the sensation of heaviness or pain in the left side of the chest which typically radiates to the left arm and may be associated with sweating, choking sensation, and breathlessness. Less often, the pain may occur on the right side of the chest, shoulders, and even the lower jaws or teeth. This is a very dreaded condition, and if left unattended to may give rise to life threatening consequences. More than one-sixth of all people killed by heart
