Already plagued by imposter syndrome and fragile self-belief, Desley must navigate not only the pressure to prove herself as a writer, but the unsettling dynamics of the other residents.

The character dynamics are razor-sharp. Maia is a standout: bold, unapologetic and fiercely driven, with an undercurrent of anger and a long-brewing plan for revenge. Ambition, jealousy and resentment swirl around the writers - the dark side of creative life. The novel captures this brilliantly: the moment art becomes monetised, joy gives way to competition, ego and envy.

As a storm rolls in - both literal and metaphorical - the tension tightens. The house becomes a pressure cooker of lies, regrets and buried truths. Cryptic notes, a growing sense of being watched, and the discovery of two bodies propel the narrative into full chilling thriller territory. 

At its core, this is Desley’s story: a woman who doesn’t believe in ghosts, yet finds herself confronting something far more terrifying - human nature at its most fragile and dangerous.
