LoveReading Says

LoveReading Says

A gobsmacking, heartbreaking, punch of a read. You may well have heard of Chris McCandless, he abandoned his life to live in the wilds of Alaska. There is no happy ending to be found here, and the story of his last few months left me reeling. I have been to Alaska, and spent time in Healy, which is the last small town McCandless walked through before stepping into the wilderness of Denali.

Author John Krakauer took me back there, his descriptions both sing and sting, this is no theme park ride. Into the Wild transports, it is also a provocative and powerful read.

About Into the Wild

Jon Krakauer's Into the Wild examines the true story of Chris McCandless, a young man who walked deep into the Alaskan wilderness and whose SOS note and emaciated corpse were found four months later. In April 1992, Chris McCandless set off alone into the Alaskan wild. He had given his savings to charity, abandoned his car and his possessions, and burnt the money in his wallet, determined to live a life of independence.
