"This fabulously entertaining locked-room mystery set among novelists on a remote island, vibrates with tension, wit, dastardly deeds, and murder."
Oh what a wickedly delicious read this is! A locked-room murder mystery with attitude, it pokes fun at the writing world, deals out some bloody murders, and dares the reader to keep up. Here two author’s have come together to write as Evelyn Clarke, V.E. Schwab who wrote Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil which is another of my Liz Picks, and screenwriter and former YA author Cat Clarke. The Ending Writes Itself contains one remote Scottish island, one world-famous dead author, one frustrated publisher, and six mid-range authors who would kill for the chance for a major book deal. I loved how this comes together, it isn’t packaged in a neat and tidy bow, instead it misdirects, hoodwinks, and leads the reader astray by bouncing the focus, direction, and plot around the pages. The house sits centre stage, I loved how it grew in importance. The characters aren’t necessarily likeable, which ensures a level of unpredictability which is maintained throughout. I always enjoy novels featuring the literary world, and I found it all tremendously fun, hence its inclusion as a Liz Pick of the Month. The Ending Writes Itself is a hugely entertaining murder-mystery, get your thinking caps on and enjoy the ride.

It’s the perfect plot. All it needs is a killer ending.
Six authors.
One private island.
Seventy-two hours to write the ending.

World-famous author Arthur Fletch is dead. His final novel, the most anticipated book in history, remains unfinished. But the ending won’t write itself.
When six struggling authors are invited to Fletch's private Scottish island and presented with the opportunity of a lifetime, the plot thickens: whoever writes a worthy ending will receive a game-changing book deal and two million dollars.
Why have they been chosen to attend? Who is behind the invitation? And just how far would they go to secure a place on the bestseller list?
They have just seventy-two hours, a typewriter and a blank page. All they have to do is write…
Starting is often the hardest part. But getting to the end could be murder.
