"Get cooking with Wareing by your side in his celebration of French cuisine. C'est magnifique!"
I am a huge admirer of Marcus Wareing. The renowned British chef, restaurateur, and telly personality was born in the same decade as me in the same part of the world. His skills were honed working under celebrated chefs like Albert Roux and Gordon Ramsay, in restaurants like Le Gavroche and he earned his first Michelin star in 1997. Beyond the kitchen, we're a big fan of him in our house as a judge on MasterChef.
In his 40 year career he says the food of France has influenced him more than any other, and this is his love letter to haute cuisine. Featuring famously rich dishes from the Hexagon as well as the incredible patisserie, this is a gastronomique treat!
Having worked with and trained under some of the true icons of French cuisine, who have influenced how Wareing cooks today, this is a celebration of that journey. The precision, the dedication, the respect for the craft and the incredible ingredients all being key parts of that. He shares his personal highlights of French food and the ways in which it has inspired him throughout his career. From his college days to learning the classics, to cooking over the fire, Wareing shares it all. And this journey showcases everything you'd expect and much much more. Bouillabaisse, tick. Cote de Veau, tick. Confit de Canard, tick. Fougasse, tick. Tartiflette and Millefeuille, of course.
This is a magnificent book for all types of cooks, for all audiences. Whether you're looking for yummy family dinners or a menu to impress your most foody of guests, this book has it all. Whilst also encapsulating some of those once in a lifetime meals that blew his mind, making them accessible for the home cook, Wareing holds your hand every step of the way enabling you to create these masterpieces yourself.
