December 2015 Debut of the Month.
A stirring and thrilling plot ensures 'After Anna' just gallops along for your dramatic reading pleasure. When Julia’s daughter disappears at the school gates, the nightmare that follows, threatens to swallow her whole. The prologue is a three page little masterpiece, as with a chilling simplicity the villain of the piece declares their intention. Alex Lake immediately hooks your attention, holds and agitates it, the writing is sharp and pointed. I did feel as though I was being held at a distance from Julia, I could see her anguish and pain, but didn't feel completely connected to her, this allowed me an overview, to review and process information. If like me, you like to set your brain to analysing mode as you read, you may find there are no huge surprises waiting in store, however I still found this to be a captivating and cracking read. ~ Liz Robinson
