'I was about to make my story available for a stranger to read. I’d designed my cover, completed every field required and uploaded my story. Could it be this easy? What if they hate it? What if they love it? What if my soul on paper was a load of rubbish?
Who knew? But I’d never find out unless I clicked that self-publish button.

I’m not quite sure what happened from that point on. Total madness seems apt because that’s exactly what it has been – a non-stop rollercoaster of ups and downs. I’ve been in this world for under a year, but I feel like I’ve gained a lifetime of knowledge in that short time.
Would I do anything different? Yes, I’d have read the wealth of information available on Amazon’s KDP site a hundred times instead of fifty. I would have also made myself more familiar with the on line community of readers, writers and bloggers, who are instrumental in the marketing and promotion of self-published authors.
If you plan on self-publishing, find that community. It’ll open up a whole new world to you.
Every self-published author’s dream is to have a traditional publishing house invest in them – a huge organisation that has faith in your work and will put your book in the shops, help you market and promote it, and reach an even wider audience. Incredibly, I’ve got that now.
