Escape your every day reality and join in with some fun in the sun on the Benson's first proper family holiday for 16 years. The story is predominantly told from the viewpoints of the two sisters Chelsea and Ronnie (who haven't spoken for two years). The author has the ability to bring this family to life, she understands the reality, the ups and downs of relationships. The additional focus on Great-Granddad Bill, sliding into dementia with his social awareness turned firmly to off and 15 year old Sophie feeling the excruciating teenage embarrassment of her elders, really keeps the interest sizzling.
Add some romance, stir in a secret wanting freedom, pepper with warring six year olds, add a dash of the gold-digger and there you have it, the perfect recipe for a scrumptious summer read. ~ Liz Robinson
Sisters Chelsea and Ronnie Benson haven't spoken to each other in two years when their mother announces she wants the whole family to go on a week-long holiday in Lanzarote for her sixtieth birthday. Both sisters dread the holiday for different reasons. Sophisticated singleton Chelsea, a fashion journalist, dreads a week in the 'chips with everything' world she left behind when she moved to London.
