"This warmly amusing and richly intriguing mystery set in India is as entertaining as it is satisfying while it sets up a fabulous new crime-solving duo."
The streets of old Delhi form a fascinating location for this oh-so readable cosy mystery stuffed full of humour, charm, and a dead body in a hotel room. After meeting over a sneaky smoke, Sister Agatha and a hotel owner Avtar, join forces as the local police and secret services threaten to close down the hotel.
This is one heck of an intriguing crime-fighting duo, and I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know them. Their partnership is unexpected but works beautifully, with author Paul Waters creating characters that feel not only authentic, but also vibrantly alive.
The sense of place is vividly colourful and richly imagined, I was able to picture the scenes and feel the atmosphere and energy of the hotel, the surrounding streets and wider city. I was really able to get my teeth into the plot, I can absolutely recommend this to armchair detectives who delight in trying to solve the mystery as they read. While a gentle humour, kindness and empathy stroke the pages, the occasional pointed bites of social and political commentary make this a really interesting read.
This is the first in a new series and I am ready to queue up for the second book. Murder in Moonlit Square is in equal parts entertaining and compelling as it introduces a fabulous pair of amateur-detectives.

When semi-retired Irish nun Sister Agatha Murphy meets Avtar Mehta round the back of his historic Delhi hotel, they form an instant bond over a sneaky smoke and good gossip. Then a street robbery outside the hotel, a dead body inside it, and the disappearance of a pilgrim guest bring the local police to the hotel, determined to close their cases quickly, and with them the Delhi Haveli Hotel.
