Experience viewpoints near and far with this anthology highlighting travel, with an extract for every night of the year, Oh how I love this series of bedside companion books, they evoke emotion, inspire thoughts, and allow you access to the familiar and unknown. Jane McMorland Hunter is so skilled in locating and collating her selections. She includes travel memoirs, fiction, poetry, and children’s stories, and with such huge choice in front of her she must have spent hours sifting and exploring her options. As she says in her introduction: “Travel narratives allow the reader to travel anywhere, under any circumstances, at any time…Books have the ability to take you back, or even forwards, in time, down the deepest cave or up the highest mountain and beyond, to the stars”. This is her pick and choice of writing, sitting within her own carefully chosen parameters. As I read I soared and explored, the 15 February saw me closing my eyes in blissful memories, 18 July took me back to my childhood, while the 16 August made me chortle!
