A fascinating novel about the work of the French Resistance in the Second World War and the nuns and priests who risked their lives to save Jewish families from the evil grasp of the German war machine. Greatly researched the actions of these fictional characters reflect the true heroism of individuals in some of the darkest days of our history.
When Adelaide Anson-Gravetty discovers she is not who she thought she was, her search for her true family leads her to the convent of Our Lady of Mercy in St Croix. The defeat of France brings German occupation to the village, where the nuns are caught up in a war that threatens both their beliefs and their lives.
