LoveReading Expert Review of Everything's Perfect

This novel is a witty and provocative look at the world of social media while celebrating friendship and motherhood.

A smart, contemporary, entertaining look at friendships and what it is to be a mother in the social media age of perfection. While glamorous and celebrated social media celebrity Cassie fights to remain relevant, anxious new mum Beth finds herself on the road to viral stardom. This is the debut of lawyer Nicole Kennedy, and it was written during her third pregnancy. She has the ability to capture the big little things that really matter, writing with a light yet provocative, and warm yet witty pen. The main characters induced feelings that swung between affection and disapproval, while sitting in among the supporting cast are some truly cackle inducing creations. Social media stands to the fore, the plot weaves in and out of the need to display perfection and how damaging that can be. While undoubtedly amusing, Everything’s Perfect is also thought-provoking too, making for a gleefully readable novel.

Everything's Perfect Synopsis

Can you ever have the perfect life? A smart and thought-provoking romantic comedy about motherhood, friendship and the quest for perfection in an Instagram age.

Cassie Holliday is at the top of her game. A glamorous wife and mother with 1.3 million Instagram followers, she posts images of her gorgeous husband and cute (gender-neutral) twins online every day. To her adoring fanbase, Cassie's life is a string of perfect experiences in Valencia filter.

But in real life, you can't airbrush the truth. Cassie's marriage is at breaking point, her finances are precarious, and she is terrified of every Insta-star's worst nightmare: becoming irrelevant.

Then Cassie meets Beth, an anxious new mum who never ventures online. Finally, Cassie feels like she can be herself. They soon become each other's lifeline, until a video of Beth goes viral, and their offline friendship tips into online rivalry.

In a world where everything is curated, what does it mean to have a perfect life?

About Nicole Kennedy

Nicole Kennedy grew up in Essex. She was the first person in her family to go to university, and won a place to study Law at Bristol. She has always wanted to be a novelist but her work as a lawyer left little time for writing. During Nicole's second maternity leave she began writing poems and rhymes on motherhood and family life, which she posted to her blog 'The Brightness Of These Days'. She completed her first novel during her third maternity leave (because by then it was easier than leaving the house). Nicole lives in Kent with her husband ...
