A Maxim Jakubowski selected title.
A strong first novel by a new British author about the troubling events that occurred in a children's home some years in the past and how they have forged the lives of many of its denizens and hangers on. DI Ray Drake is now a cop and an investigation into the wholesale slaughter of a seemingly innocent family, conducted with DS Flick Crowley brings his past rushing back home as links appear, people he knew are being killed off and it rapidly becomes apparent that the answers and the killer lie in what happened at Lomngacre in 1984.
A race against time, red herrings cleverly deployed throughout, striking portraits of evil characters, a burning sense of revenge, all the elements combine all the way through to a breathless finale with a writer in full control of his craft and the art of keeping you in thrall. A good one. ~ Maxim Jakubowski

TWO CHILDHOOD FRIENDS...ONE BECAME A DETECTIVE...ONE BECAME A KILLER...Thirty years ago, the Longacre Children's Home stood on a London street where once-grand Victorian homes lay derelict.
