LoveReading Says
A chilling tale of kidnap and implacable revenge, this is a striking debut by a young American lawyer which goes in the absolute opposite direction you thought it would and even qualifies for rightful comparisons with Gone Girl, Girl on the Train and, more unexpectedly, The Silence of the Lambs. When a pregnant 16-years old is brutally kidnapped and forced into a van, the aggressors are soon on the defensive as the victim rapidly turns out to be anything but vulnerable, and surprisingly cold, manipulative, cruel and infinitely talented in the art of strike back. The methodic way by which she plots to save her unborn child and take absolute revenge on her attackers is distinctly scary and even though the reader is rooting for her all along, she is not the sort of heroine you would like to take tea with! Powerful and full of twists all the way to an explosive finale, a gripping read.

The Method Synopsis
They thought she was the victim, but they're the ones in danger ...Imagine a helpless, pregnant 16-year-old who's just been yanked from the serenity of her home and shoved into a dirty van. Kidnapped ...Alone ...Terrified. Now forget her ...Picture instead a pregnant, 16-year-old, manipulative prodigy. She is shoved into a dirty van and, from the first moment of her kidnapping, feels a calm desire for two things: to save her unborn son and to exact merciless revenge. She is methodical - calculating - scientific in her plotting. Leaving nothing to chance, she waits ...for the perfect moment to strike. The Method is what happens when the victim is just as cold as the captors.

Shannon Kirk Press Reviews
'It's hard to find true originality these days, but this debut delivers, dicing the genre before blending it just to be sure. The characters are beautifully detailed ... '
Alastair Gunn, author of The Advent Killer and My Bloody Valentine
'Completely original and totally kick ass! Shannon Kirk pulls no punches in this adrenaline rush of a thriller where the victim is the one to watch, while the kidnappers learn to fear. Loved it!'
Lisa Gardner

Claire McGowan
'Riveting ... a thrilling new voice in crime fiction'
Boston Globe
'[The narrator's] willpower and ingenuity prove more than a match for the callous brutality of those who wish her ill as this exciting tale builds to a surprising climax'
Publishers Weekly, Starred Review
'Flat-out brilliant'
Mystery Scene
'A dark, disturbing, damnably readable novel ... a worthy challenge, a joy to discuss and a great pairing with John Katzenback's equally riveting What Comes Next'
Booklist, Starred Review
'The Method is crowded with fascinating characters - but the standout is the kidnapped pregnant teenager. Her captors want her baby. Little do they know they've brought an insanely brilliant, angry, vengeful, borderline sociopath under their roof. Somebody's in big trouble ... and it isn't the teenager'
F Paul Wilson, New York Times Bestselling Author
'The Method by Shannon Kirk has an extraordinary plot as well as an extraordinary character ... Make sure you have some extra time as you start this unusual and suspenseful novel. It is darn hard to put down'
Book Loons
'Shannon Kirk's debut novel doesn't really remind me of anything else I've read ... Thrilling, shocking and original, The Method is a guaranteed all-night read'
