The Good Book Guide logo The Good Book Guide Review. Is there a more prolific crime/thriller author in the field than David Baldacci? Possibly James Patterson, but his books are created with an army of co-writers, and Baldacci’s is the only name that appears on the flood of novels from the author. Memory Man even adds a new character to Baldacci’s already impressive cast list. Detective Amos Decker has returned home a year before the narrative of Memory Man to discover the murdered bodies of his wife and daughter. Utterly unable to cope with the grief, he loses his job as a detective. But after someone confesses to the murder of his family, Decker finds another killer is at large, murdering teenagers, and the strange gift that Amos possesses – the result of an old injury – is to prove extremely useful in all the daunting problems that he has to face.

Synopsis

Memory Man by David Baldacci

When Amos Decker returned home 18 months ago to find the bodies of his wife and only daughter, he didn't think he could carry on living. Overwhelmed with grief, he saw his life spiral out of control, losing his job as a detective, his house and his self-respect. But when his former police partner, Mary Lancaster, visits to tell him that someone has confessed to the murders, he knows he has to seek justice for his family. As Decker comes to terms with the news, tragedy strikes at the local school. Thirteen teenagers are gunned down, and the killer is at large. Following the serious brain injury Amos suffered as a professional footballer, he gained a remarkable gift - and the police believe that this unusual skill will assist in the hunt for the killer.
