That Part Was True by Deborah McKinlay

Sarah Broadhurst's view...

In an age where long distance internet relationships are increasingly becoming normal it’s quite fascinating to read a book about a cross-continental relationship that comes about through a good old fashioned letter. Eve is a wealthy middle-class Brit who writes one day to an American author, Jackson, and their short initial exchange prompts a burgeoning friendship and then romance. Told both in their letters and in a narrative that reveals their wider lives it is a charming, enjoyable light read.

If you like Deborah McKinlay you might also like to read books by Victoria Hislop, Adriana Trigiani and Jojo Moyes.

Synopsis

That Part Was True by Deborah McKinlay

Reminiscent of ONE DAY meets 84 CHARING CROSS ROAD, THAT PART WAS TRUE is a bittersweet story about falling in love and risking it all. When Eve Petworth writes to Jackson Cooper to praise a scene in one of his books, they discover a mutual love of cookery and food. As their letters criss-cross the ocean that lies between them, friendship and then romance blossoms despite Jackson's colourful love life and Eve's tense relationship with her soon-to-be-married daughter. Little by little, Eve and Jack begin to believe that they may have a chance to change their lives and possibly get a second chance at happiness. They just need to actually meet...A gorgeous, escapist read about food, friendship and falling in love from afar...
