Beneath the Ice by Patrick Woodhead

Sarah Broadhurst's view...

A grim, cold tale of Antarctic exploration, of a hidden fresh water lake thousands of feet below the ice, unfrozen, and a bunch of scientists trying to discover what it contains. Winter is closing in and they only have a tiny window to get their samples out. They are attacked by a Yeti-type creature and so the race against time begins. This is pure escapist, boys’-own adventure and good fun.

Who is Sarah Broadhurst

The Good Book Guide logo The Good Book Guide Review. Two kilometres under the frozen ice caps of Antarctica lies a secret place, undiscovered for a million years: a lake frozen and perfectly preserved. MI6 officer Kieran Bates assigns Luca Matthews to head up a team of scientists to investigate this long-lost, forgotten realm. But the MI6 man has a secret of his own, and a hidden agenda. When mining investigator ‘Bear’ Makuru finds herself unable to reach Luca, she investigates – and finds something very disturbing indeed. This is a lively and atmospheric thriller with that ineluctable page-turning quality.
