The Dying Place by Luca Veste

Sarah Broadhurst's view...

Launching onto the crime writers’ scene with Dead Gone which introduced troubled DI David Murphy and eagle-eyed DS Laura Rossi, the author continues his series with another gritty Liverpool-based tale where the rapport between the characters is as slick as ever. At its core is troubled teenage boys disappearing and then one, six months later, turns up dead behind a church. His body is badly battered, obviously having been tortured. We get both sides of the story, the police procedural and the tortured boy in the farm. Why, is what this savage tale is about. It portrays the hopelessness of some deprived teenagers; all very sad.

If you like Luca Veste you might also like to read books by Mark Billington, Stuart MacBride and Chris Mooney.
