Lovereading view...

One of the Top 10 books in the Lovereading Readers’ Choice Book of the Year 2014. One of our Books of the Year 2014.

This is the first in a new series by this terrific author. It mixes crime with romance and rattles along at a cracking pace. It is long and being a romance, there are some pretty explicit sex scenes which is now common in all sorts of books. If it’s the crime element you want then you can skip such scenes with no plot loss. The main characters are Faith, a therapist to victims of sex crimes who is fleeing for her life, and Deacon, the Cincinnati major crime enforcement agent, great characters who must presumably continue the series. The true identity of a serial killer is kept from the reader with possible new suspects introduced every now and again which certainly keeps you guessing. Great stuff.

November 2014 Book of the Month.

The Good Book Guide logo The Good Book Guide Review. While her name may not have the cachet of other, better-known writers, Karen Rose’s reputation among her many admirers could not be higher. Her accomplished work over the years has accrued for her a truly dedicated following who will no doubt be pouncing on Closer than You Think as eagerly as they have done with her earlier work. This sizeable entry (weighing in at nearly 600 pages) is the inaugural book in a new series and features experienced FBI agent Deacon Novak. He has returned home to his native Cincinnati to join the city’s Major Crime Enforcement Squad, which is a challenging enough assignment in itself – but he has another even more difficult personal task. Will it be possible for him to prevent his younger brother becoming the kind of criminal that Deacon spends his time tracking down? Another compelling novel from the reliable Karen Rose.
