The Burning Mind is the new thriller from the acclaimed Edgar Award-winning writer, M. G. Gardiner. Harper Flynn nearly died when gunmen attacked the L.A. club where she worked. A year later, Harper tries to rebuild her life - but is failing. Because not only is she convinced there was a third gunman who escaped, but she also believes that he is targeting the survivors. The only person who will listen is Sherriff Deputy Aiden Garrison, who tried to save her life that night. But Harper's only ally has a secret of his own - one that makes him suspicious and highly volatile...
In a previous incarnation (as Meg Gardiner), M G Gardiner was an author who had the absolute measure of the contemporary crime novel, in which plotting of tensile strength was matched to writing rich in nuance. The new moniker hardly signals a change, but if anything is new, it is an even more assured sense of authority. Harper Flynn is left near to death when the LA club in which she works is the scene of an assault by raiders wearing masks. She is haunted by the thought that not only did one of the attackers escape, but the survivors of the brutal attack are now in the firing line of a ruthless killer or killers.
'One of my favorite authors. She always delivers a terrific read. The Burning Mind should go to the top of your 'to be read pile.'
- Karin Slaughter
'Gardiner's strengths are working better than ever here - characters as real as your friends, and a plot as real as your nightmares.'
- Lee Child
'I need to tell you about Meg Gardiner, and if you love great thrillers, you'll want to listen. The next suspense superstar ... As good as Michael Connelly.'
- Stephen King
