Sarah Broadhurst's view...

Ben is a high-flying PR man with a sadly damaged past which has left him weary of becoming romantically involved. Effie is a dedicated charity worker at present concentrating on saving children injured by a dreadful oil explosion at a refinery in Uganda. The company involved was Ropec Oil, one of Ben's clients. When the two meet the attraction is instant but Effie does not know of Ben's involvement with Ropec or his damaged past. Things go badly wrong and you really are left frantically turning pages on the edge of your seat waiting to see "will they, won't they". It is very thought provoking, very good.

If you like Jessica Thompson you might also like to read books by Chris Manby, Claudia Carroll and Fiona Walker.

Synopsis

Paper Swans by Jessica Thompson

Ben Lawrence seems to have it all - the hot job, the flashy car, the luxurious apartment. But one tragic day in his past mars his future. Since the events of that day he hasn't truly got close to anyone. He made a promise that love was the price he would pay for his mistakes. When Effy Jones - a bright, ambitious charity founder - walks into the PR firm where Ben works, neither realise that their lives are about to be turned upside down.

Reviews

Ebook of the month (August 2014) * Tatler * You'll want to take notes so you can tame your own commitment-phobe next time. * Now * A very modern romance, this is a sweet, witty and likeable love story * Sunday Mirror * This book is another wonderful story from one of my favourite authors, it's a sweetly written tale about love but also focuses on the subjects of mental health and poverty and handles both topics beautifully. A highly recommended and heartwarming book. * Handwritten Girl Blog * ...a lovely and breath-taking book and I loved every single page. * The Dark Dictator Blog *
