Sarah Broadhurst's view...

A lovely, lovely book, very sad, heartbreaking but so sensitively written. We follow Mara who prepares for suicide once her incurable illness, Huntingdon’s disease, becomes incapacitating and unbearable. She has a loving husband and a five-year old daughter. We also follow Scott and Laurie trying for a baby and having an eight-year old, disruptive boy, Curtis, dumped on them while his mum is in prison. The only connection between the two stories is anonymous communication via a website. There is tragedy in Curtis’ life too. This is a real ‘kleenex’ book which strangely leaves you uplifted. Highly recommended.

If you like Julie Lawson Timmer you might also like to read books by Jodi Picoult, Gavin Extence and Jojo Moyes.

Scott lives a thousand miles away, and is a foster parent to a troubled eight-year-old. Scott is facing his own five day countdown until his beloved foster son is returned to his biological mother. The two connect through an online forum, and find a friendship to help guide them through the most difficult, and momentous, week of their lives.
