The Target by David Baldacci

Sarah Broadhurst's view...

As good as any Baldacci novel and he is good. This one, however, is a bit different in that it deals with the increasing power of North Korea and its young and irrational President. It stars special agent/assassins Will Robie and Jessica Reel up against equally dedicated and specialised Korean assassins. The stakes are very high indeed. There is a lot of soul-searching as to the effects of acting as an assassin which is interesting and all main individuals are shown with their doubts and fears which add an endearing reality to the tale. But fear not, the action scenes are just as they should be, nail-bitingly tense.

If you like David Baldacci you might also like to read books by Michael Connelly, Gerald Seymour and Lee Child.

Who is Sarah Broadhurst

The Good Book Guide logo The Good Book Guide Review. How on earth does he do it? The American writer David Baldacci is undoubtedly one of the most prolific of modern thriller specialists, producing (over many years) a series of truly individual thrillers in a variety of genres, with very few missteps along the way. What’s more, he appears to carry on without an army of collaborators (the latter a syndrome that is increasingly the norm among thriller writers) and The Target continues this healthy trajectory. Government assassin Will Robbie has to deal with the fallout from the conflict between the US and North Korea, and it’s as compelling a read as any of Baldacci’s recent books.
