Though Not Dead by Dana Stabenow

Sarah Broadhurst's view...

This is the 18th Kate Shugak novel. Shugak is an Alaskan PI who is feisty, fiery and very enjoyable to read. In this adventure her surrogate father has died and left her with a complicated, confusing, personal and ultimately very dangerous mystery to solve. Brilliant, atmospheric and hugely enjoyable. If you’re not already a fan it’s worth starting from the beginning with A Cold Day for Murder.

If you like Dana Stabenow you might also like to read books by Julianna Baggott, Hugh Howey and Sue Grafton.

Though Not Dead by Dana Stabenow

Kate's uncle Sam dies, leaving her a letter instructing Kate to 'find his father'. The problem is Sam's father disappeared nearly 90 years ago with a priceless tribal artefact. As Kate delves into the old man's life, she unearths some surprising facts: his service in World War Two, his friendship with crime-writer Dashiell Hammet. The problem is that she's not the only one interested in Sam's past. And this someone has no compunction about putting Kate permanently out of the picture to get what they want.

It's the first site that I visit when deciding on the next set of books to buy. A particular treat is being able to download an extract.
