All's Fair in Love and Law Small Town Tales of Life, Laughter and Litigation

Author: Alan Hammond Format: Paperback Release Date: 07/08/2014

Dufty Dufty Popple & Dunn is a traditional solicitors firm in the small Midlands town of Hockam (pronounced Hokum, as the local residents are at pains to point out). This heart-warming collection of stories revolves around the lives, relationships, triumphs and failures of the good people of Hockam and of the lawyers to whom they look for help. We meet the lonely dentist and his noisy neighbours, the TV celebrity chef and his complex family, the policeman and his beloved budgies, the Vicar and the Major General, the greedy beneficiary of an uncle's will. These and many others bring their problems to Dufty Dufty Popple & Dunn to be resolved by the long-suffering and well-meaning members of the firm, all of whom have their own lives to live when time permits, from Bernard, the hapless trainee, to Hugo Dufty, the nominal senior partner. And then, of course, there are the ever-present rumours concerning Robert Popple, the former partner who departed from the firm some years previously in mysterious circumstances. The whole symphony of life portrayed here is conducted with gentle humour and charm by Hugo's father, Charles Dufty, who founded the firm 50 years ago and whose wisdom and deep understanding of the human condition help to make sense of even the most difficult and apparently insoluble problems.

Our Divine and Cosmic Identity, Volume 4

Author: Alan Hammond Format: eBook Release Date: 11/01/2016

This volume and the three preceding ones carry the essential spirit and truth contained in all the major religions, philosophies, psychologies, and provide the fundamental basis for harmony inhuman societies and the world's ecology. Improbable though this sounds, nevertheless it is the fact. This is not a book that expounds beliefs but, rather, one that describes personal experience in living, not only of the author but the observable experience of everyone who ever lived, is alive now, or shall yet be born. Some know heaven, some hell, and most purgatory. The laws of spiritual cause and effect become very easy to see in operation. Part One contains transcriptions of extemporaneous talks given from 2011 to 2014. Nothing is ever created by an isolated individual. Part Two consists of selected presentations given from 1980 to 1992 to spiritual education classes, talks given at specialized conferences, some public talks, and written articles published in magazines and newsletters.

The Sixties Boys on Tour

The Sixties Boys on Tour

Author: Alan Hammond Format: Paperback Release Date: 24/09/2012

Following the success of Alan's semi-autobiographical Sixties Boys books, he has yet again come up with another gem with The Sixties Boys On Tour. Modern Edge, a band formed in the 60s had a great following until they disbanded in the mid 70s. Band member Nick gets a surprise phone call from a music promoter, who wants to know if the band would be interested in headlining a 1960s UK Revival Tour. Living in a dingy flat on his own after a failed marriage and his two kids treating him like an old geriatric who has never had a life, he has had enough. Little do they know that he was once a Sixties pop idol and experienced things that they could only dream about. With a present day setting Nick decides he wants to go back to those days and sets out to find the band members who he has not kept in contact with or seen for over thirty five years. Nick has great difficulty and some sadness along the way in trying to locate some of the guys. Finally he gets the band back together again and they go on tour to try to recapture the sounds that had once made them famous. Five time-worn OAPs trying to relive their youth is a recipe for hilarious escapades with old flames, adversaries, chaotic gigs and lots more, all told in Alan's inimitable racy style.

Our Divine and Cosmic Identity, Volume 3

Our Divine and Cosmic Identity, Volume 3

Author: Alan Hammond Format: eBook Release Date: 09/07/2012

"e;Our Divine and Cosmic Identity"e; can be a daunting, questionable idea to human beings. Yet it is the truth, and out of this central awareness emerges personal fulfillment and global transformation. There is only one Power animating all physical form. We may call this Power Life. Life is animating your form. You are an aspect of Life, the Creator. The talks contained in this book can be of assistance in your adventure of Self-discovery. You may awaken to your oneness with Life everywhere, and to its coordinated movement in every circumstance, as you fulfill the purposes of your incarnation. These extemporaneous talks were given between 2007 and 2011. This volume, like Volume II, is published under the authorship designated as A. As before, this is merely to suggest that the words emerged from the one Identity, I Am-the subjective Identity of all Being, of Life.

Our Divine and Cosmic Identity, Volume 2

Our Divine and Cosmic Identity, Volume 2

Author: Alan Hammond Format: eBook Release Date: 01/11/2011

The human race and the individuals composing it continue to suffer the tragic effects of being unaware of their true Identity. This state has led to a false experience of themselves and of life, rendering them incapable of fulfilling their true purpose in the cosmic design. This volume of talks, given between 2002 and 2007, discusses themes pertinent to the reawakening of the consciousness to both true identity and purpose. The talks were given to the same small group of spiritual colleagues as were present for the talks contained in Volume I. These individuals therefore played an essential role in the appearance of both volumes. Members of a transcript mailing list also played their parts, and some of these latterly joined the original group for talks shared by telephone conference call. Acknowledgments would not be complete without reference to Lloyd Arthur Meeker (Uranda) and Martin Exeter, whose lives and teaching embodied the true Tone of Life in a magnificent way. The chapters are extemporaneous talks, and as such do not have the easy reading style of written prose. The content also assumes that the reader has previously undertaken considerable spiritual work, so there are few attempts at the correction, inspiration or persuasion often presented in spiritual literature. A few words are used in specialized ways, and these are referenced in the small glossary. As in Volume I, capital letters are used, not always grammatically consistent but, rather, for nuanced effect in their use and context. * * *It is not anticipated that this book will receive a large distribution. Its contribution to the cycle of restoration was made primarily through the influence of spiritual radiation when the talks were given. This is true of each of our contributions in living. They are made radiantly, moment by moment, in the current of the spirit expressed.

Our Divine and Cosmic Identity, Volume 1

Our Divine and Cosmic Identity, Volume 1

Author: Alan Hammond Format: eBook Release Date: 01/11/2011

This volume one of the most significant books in the history of spiritual literature. The subject itself, "e;Our Divine and Cosmic Identity,"e; might suggest the validity of this statement. This appraisal is not a personal, egotistical one, since it is fully realized that no individual creates anything alone. (See the chapter "e;Within the Archangelic Consciousness."e;) Ultimately, this book is the expression of the Whole. The contents would not have appeared but for the presence of a few spiritual colleagues who consistently provided a creative context. Beyond these were others who constituted the mailing list, to whom the transcripts were sent. Above all, I acknowledge the foundational awareness provided by Lloyd Arthur Meeker (Uranda) and Martin Exeter, whose genius, lives and words opened the way for this book, which I consider to be an extension of their ministry. The chapters are transcriptions of talks given from June 1997 to August 2002. "e;The Eternal Presence"e; was written in 1982. It is not imagined that these talks are the last word on any of the subjects considered. They are to be seen, rather, as helpful glimpses of a greater perspective yet to emerge more fully in our experience. Their primary value does not lie at the conceptual level, but in the spiritual radiation emerging through them. We find ourselves indwelling a state that is abysmally unconscious of true Identity and purpose. Reawakening the human consciousness to awareness of our divine and cosmic Self is but an initial step in the return to sentient participation in the eternal and glorious life of Being. This adventure will certainly continue to unfold. May the following pages be of assistance as you seek to fulfill your divine commission. * * * The reader should not be deterred by some possibly unfamiliar language. A small glossary is provided, and for the willing, spacious reader any challenge will quickly fade. The capitalization of some words is not always grammatically accurate or consistent, but may convey nuances of meaning which must be spiritually discerned.
