An excellent choice for a fun, madcap summer read. Holly is constantly wishing he life was like that of an old fashioned Hollywood movie star and it isn’t far off that until one day when everything in her life suddenly goes wrong. Funny and witty this is a real page turner to get you giggling and maybe realising life isn’t so bad just the way it is.
Author of The Ivy Chronicles (a Richard and Judy pick) with, in my mind, a much better book. It has everything to make it a good read, Renata’s diary entries, the infighting at school, a whole set of awkward situations and a delightful heroine trying to do her best. It is the most enormous fun.Similar this month: Chris Manby, Catherine Alliott.Comparison: Carole Matthews, Carmen Reid, Jennifer Weiner.
Reviewed on Richard and Judy on 13th July 2005.A redundant woman reinvents herself. Based on the author’s experiences, it’s a real eye-opener to the wheeling and dealing of well-heeled New Yorkers as they battle to place their four-year olds in the best private kindergartens! It’s an astute hoot. Really poking at the lengths people will go to be seen to be socially elite, all bound round a charming romance in a nice easy read. It has just been chosen as one of the six featured titles for Richard and Judy's summer read. Comparison: Allison Pearson, Wendy Holden, Isabel Wolff.Similar this month: Hester Browne, Carmen Reid.
