Steve Jones, proprietor of the Portland- based Cheese Bar and Chizu (cheese served sushi- style) has been successfully matching cheeses with alcoholic beverages for more than two decades. Here he shares his knowledge by introducing 75 different cheeses and pairing each with the beverage that brings out the best in both. Jones provides a treasure trove of delectable, often surprising pairings, as well as simple steps for successful experimentation. This guide will function as a crash course for beginners on buying, storing, and serving cheese and alcohol, while offering more seasoned aficionados page after page of cheese-and-beverage combinations to replicate at home. With gorgeous photographs, this book captures the allure, approachability, and, most importantly, the sheer joy of pairing cheese with beer, wine or cider.

Lonely Boy

Author: Steve Jones Format: Paperback / softback Release Date: 05/10/2017

_____________________ Foreword by Chrissie Hynde Without the Sex Pistols there would be no Punk. And without Steve Jones there would be no Sex Pistols. It was Steve who formed Kutie Jones and his Sex Pistols, the band that eventually went on to become the Sex Pistols, with his schoolmate Paul Cook and who was its original leader. As the world celebrates the 40th anniversary of Punk - the influence and cultural significance of which is felt in music, fashion and the visual arts to this day - Steve tells his story for the very first time. Steve's modern Dickensian tale begins in the streets of Hammersmith and Shepherd's Bush, West London, where as a lonely, neglected boy living off his wits and petty thievery he is given purpose by the glam art rock of David Bowie and Roxy Music and becomes one of the first generation of ragamuffin punks taken under the wings of Malcolm McLaren and Vivienne Westwood. For the very first time Steve describes the sadness of never having known his dad, the neglect and abuse he suffered at the hands of his step father, and how his interest in music and fashion saved him from a potential life of crime spent in remand centres and prison. From the Kings Road of the early seventies, through the years of the Sex Pistols, Punk Rock and the recording of Never Mind the Bollocks (ranked number 41 in Rolling Stone magazine's Best Albums of All Time), to his self-imposed exile in New York and Los Angeles where he battled with alcohol, heroin and sex addiction - caught in a cycle of rehab and relapse - Lonely Boy, written with music journalist and author Ben Thompson, is the story of an unlikely guitar hero who, with the Sex Pistols, changed history.

The Serpent's Promise

The Serpent's Promise

Author: Steve Jones Format: Paperback / softback Release Date: 15/07/2015

In The Serpent's Promise, Steve Jones retells many of the biblical tales in the light of modern science. Are we all descended from a real-life Adam and Eve? Are some-or all-of us marked with the molecular equivalent of original sin, and if so what can we do about it? Was the Bible's great flood a memory of the end of the Ice Age? And what can science tell us of the mystical experiences reported by the faithful, or of the origin of faith itself? Some people deny the power of religious belief, others the findings of science. In this groundbreaking work from one of our great science writers, Steve Jones explores how these mysteries often overlap. He steps aside from the noisy debate between believers and non-believers to show how the questions that preoccupy us today are those of biblical times-and that science offers many of the answers. At once brilliantly erudite and highly readable, The Serpent's Promise is a witty and thoughtful account of the greatest scientific story ever told.
