"Brought to you by Penguin. It is my hope that this book will help you discover, or reconfirm, which chicken breeds are your favourites and encourage you to keep them yourself, or at least to remember them. Spotlighting more than fifty breeds of chicken, from the classy Ancona to the lavishly laced Wyandotte, Arthur Parkinson shares everything you need to know about each breed’s attributes, behaviour, quirks and qualities alongside gorgeous illustrations of his ‘ladies’. Later in the book he offers detailed advice that will equip you with the practical skills to look after hens in your own garden, whether the most common breeds or the most perilously rare – for as Arthur notes, if we don’t celebrate all hens great and small, the lesser-known varieties may well disappear. Joyful and inspiring, Hen Party is a riotous, clucking poultry show of a book for anyone dreaming of the good life. © Arthur Parkinson 2025 (P) Penguin Audio 2025"

Revolting Indolence: The Politics of Slacking, Lounging, and Daydreaming in Queer and Trans Latinx C
"How indolent practices in Latinx LGBTQ culture challenge capitalist imperatives to be productive. Revolting Indolence makes a case for laziness as an aesthetic-political strategy for countering the oppressive logics of cisheteronormative racial capitalism. Focusing on ways in which queer and trans Latinx people demonstrate the unwillingness of their participation in 'productivist' ethics and allied respectability politics, Marcos Gonsalez argues that slacking off, lounging, daydreaming, and partying are liberatory practices. Gonsalez explores how queer and trans Latinx artists refute discourses in which work is a moral good. In Paris Is Burning, RuPaul's Drag Race, documentary photography of queer and trans Latinx life in Los Angeles, and other sources, Gonsalez identifies two lazy styles: first, flagrant refusals of work that critique capitalist reason; and second, the invention of alternative aesthetic worlds beyond racial capitalism and violence targeting queer and trans people, whose rejection of the cisgender nuclear family paradigm is rightly seen as threatening the stability of a functioning capitalist system. Reclaiming laziness as a resource for radical imagining, Revolting Indolence asks us to do that which we want most and which capitalist exploitation can least tolerate: to slow down."

Who Gets to Be Indian?: Ethnic Fraud, Disenrollment, and Other Difficult Conversations About Native
"An investigation into how Native American identity became a commodity, from cultural appropriation to ethnic fraud to disenrollment Settler capitalism has been so effective that the very identities of Indigenous people have been usurped, misconstrued, and weaponized. In Who Gets to Be Indian?, scholar and writer Dina Gilio-Whitaker (Colville Confederated Tribes) explores how ethnic fraud and the commodification of Indianness has resulted in mass confusion about what it means to be Indigenous in the United States. As an entry point to the seemingly intractable problem of ethnic fraud, Gilio-Whitaker critically looks to the film industry, including a case study of Sacheen Littlefeather, who is most known as the Native American woman that rejected an Oscar on behalf of Marlon Brando in 1973-though later revealed, she was not who she said she was. Gilio-Whitaker argues that this pretendian phenomenon originated in Southern California when the United States was forcing assimilation of Indians into white America culturally, but also into its capitalist economic system. With Indianness becoming a marketized commodity in the Hollywood film business, the field became open to anyone who could convincingly adopt an Indian persona. Deeply researched using socio-historical analysis, Gilio-Whitaker offers insights from her own experiences grappling with identity to provide clarity and help readers understand how the commodification of Indianness have ultimately left many people of legitimate American Indian heritage to be disconnected from their tribes. Personal and compelling, Gilio-Whitaker takes settler capitalism to task and helps us better understand how we got here in order to counteract the abuses of pretendianism and disenrollment."

The social media sensation known for his viral "random acts of kindness" videos invites you to discover a bigger, more meaningful existence, one act of generosity at a time. "This book will leave your heart a little lighter and your eyes a little wider to the needs of those around you."-Bob Goff, New York Times bestselling author and Sweet Maria's husband Jimmy Darts is convinced that the most fun we can have is to spread joy and kindness with no inhibition. The Immortalists: The Death of Death and the Race for Eternal Life
"Brought to you by Penguin. A wild and entertaining adventure into the business of eternal life From the epic of Gilgamesh to the alchemy of the Philosopher’s stone, humanity’s quest for immortality – and its rejuvenation tricks, therapies and tinctures – has always been our most mortal endeavour. But now the giants of invention and investment are building a Fountain of Youth of their own creation. Death is simply Silicon Valley’s next problem to solve, the latest expression of a hubris which regards humans as appliances to be fixed and machines to be upgraded. By harnessing technology to “cure” ageing and funding cutting-edge—and often controversial—research, today’s immortalists are locked in an arms race to be the first to pocket the profits from Vitality Inc: one they not only engineer, but also own and control. What was once a wild west of experimentation has found its way into Washington’s corridors of power. Award-winning broadcaster and academic Aleks Krotoski journeys from these cult fringes to the heartlands of government, to meet the moguls, effective altruists, geroscientists and entrepreneurs who are disrupting death. Along the way she encounters radical life extensionists transfusing their teenage son’s blood, transhumanists who want to upload consciousness to the cloud and biohackers flogging AI-powered wellness apps. This razor-sharp, powerful, and at times chilling investigation empowers us to consider what it truly means to be human, asking: do we really want a handful of billionaires to be the architects of our forever? © Aleks Krotoski 2025 (P) Penguin Audio 2025"
