The Whale Tooth (Ungekürzt) Audiobook

The Whale Tooth (Ungekürzt)

Author: Jack London Narrator: Chris Harris-Beechey Release Date: January 2021

It was in the early days in Fiji, when John Starhurst arose in the mission house at Rewa Village and announced his intention of carrying the gospel throughout all Viti Levu. Now Viti Levu means the 'Great Land,' it being the largest island in a group composed of many large islands, to say nothing of hundreds of small ones. Here and there on the coasts, living by most precarious tenure, was a sprinkling of missionaries, traders, beche-de-mer fishers, and whaleship deserters. The smoke of the hot ovens arose under their windows, and the bodies of the slain were dragged by their doors on the way to the feasting.

The Call of the Wild (Unabridged)

Author: Jack London Narrator: Chris Harris-Beechey Release Date: November 2020

The Call of the Wild is a short adventure novel by Jack London, published in 1903 and set in Yukon, Canada, during the 1890s Klondike Gold Rush, when strong sled dogs were in high demand. The central character of the novel is a dog named Buck. The story opens at a ranch in Santa Clara Valley, California, when Buck is stolen from his home and sold into service as a sled dog in Alaska. He becomes progressively feral in the harsh environment, where he is forced to fight to survive and dominate other dogs. By the end, he sheds the veneer of civilization, and relies on primordial instinct and learned experience to emerge as a leader in the wild. The story opens with Buck, a large and powerful St. Bernard-Scotch Collie mix, living happily in California's Santa Clara Valley as the pampered pet of rich Judge Miller and his family. However, assistant gardener Manuel, in desperate need of money to finance his gambling addiction, steals Buck and sells him for a large, lucrative amount of cash. Buck is shipped to Seattle.

All Around the Moon (Unabridged)

Author: Jules Verne Narrator: Chris Harris-Beechey Release Date: November 2020

Jules Verne was born in 1828 in France. His dream was to write a new kind of novel, which combined scientific fact with fiction. Verne eventually wrote 40 novels in his Voyages extraordinaires series. 'What one man can imagine, another will someday be able to achieve.' Is a quote from an article in the Encyclopedia Britannica that sums up Verne so well. In All Around the Moon three space travelers are conversing about science and mathematics. They decide to alter the course of their projectile, which leads to unanticipated results.
