[Hindi] - Aparichita - Rabindranath Tagore: अपरिचिता - रवीन्द्रनाथ टैगोर
"Aparichita - Rabindranath Tagore - अपरिचिता - रवीन्द्रनाथ टैगोरListen, today we have brought a story, 'Aparichita', written by the great Hindi and Bengali writer 'Rabindranath Tagore'. 'Aparichita' (The Unknown Woman) is a timeless short story by Rabindranath Tagore, one of India's greatest literary icons and Nobel laureates. Now available in a beautiful Hindi audiobook format, this classic explores themes of love, ego, pride, and social norms within the Indian matrimonial and family system. In this emotionally powerful story, Tagore presents the tale of Anupam, a young man caught between the traditions of his upper-class family and his own inner voice. A marriage proposal is arranged, but due to a minor misunderstanding and his family's pride, things fall apart — and he misses a chance at love. The story raises deep questions about identity, relationships, and the mistakes we regret only when it’s too late. With graceful narration and simplified Hindi, this audiobook brings to life Tagore's masterful storytelling, his subtle critique of society’s rigidity, and his deep understanding of human emotions. "

Selected Short Stories of Rabindranath Tagore: Alive and Dead, Suva, The First Look, Hoimantee, Lett
"This is a collection of translations of six short stories of Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore. These six short stories are selected from his book ‘Galpaguchha’. The stories are, 'Alive and Dead' (Jeebita o Mreeta), 'Suva', 'The First Look' (Shuvadrishti), 'Hoimantee', ‘Letter from Your Wife' (Streer Patra) and 'The Anonymous Lady' (Aparichita). I have selected these stories, because first of all I enjoyed reading these stories and secondly all these six stories are concerned about the position of women in the family and in the society at that time, that is, during the late nineteenth century and early twentieth century. These stories depict the vulnerability of women, their lack of control over their marriage and life as a whole. Show a glimpse of life of another time and of another culture. The line of thinking may seem much different from today’s life, but in many parts of the world still there are some people who like to suppress the rights of women in the name of religion or culture. So, these stories are still relevant. Excerpts from Alive and Dead, Kadambinee cannot tolerate any more, she says sharply, ‘Oh, please, I didn’t die, did not die! How will I make you understand that I didn’t die? Let me show you that I am alive.’ From Hoimantee, ‘My life was so full to the brim on all sides, that I could not notice any gap anywhere. Suddenly, I witnessed a large void of hopelessness so near me! I couldn’t understand how and with what I would fill up this void.’ From Letter from Your Wife, Mreenal, ‘I can never understand the logic behind that it’s okay not to please me, but it’s not okay to make you unhappy.’"

"There is something about the number 3. The Ancient Greeks believed 3 was the perfect number, and in China 3 has always been a lucky number, and they know a thing or two. Most religions also have 3 this and 3 that and, of course, in these more modern times, three’s a crowd may be too many, except when it’s a ménage à trois. It seems good things usually come in threes.Whatever history and culture says WE think 3, a hat-trick of stories, is a great number to explore themes and literary avenues that classic authors were so adept at creating. From their pens to your your ears.01 - 3 Stories About - Love02 - Kabuliwallah by Rabindranath Tagore03 - Bliss by Katherine Mansfield04 - Hearts and Hands by O Henry"

"Gitanjali By Rabindranath Tagore With an Introduction by W. B. Yeats Gitanjali (song offerings) is a collection of 103 devotional poems written originally in Bengali and first published in 1910. In 1912 a translation into English by the author was published in 1912, and led to his being awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1913. The Indian sage, Paramahansa Yogananda, who was a friend and admirer of Tagore, made the following comment on his poetry: 'The beauty of his lines, to me, lies in his art of referring to God in nearly every stanza, yet seldom mentioning the sacred Name. 'Drunk with the bliss of singing,' Tagore writes, 'I forget myself and call thee friend who art my lord.'' Production copyright 2024 Voices of Today"

Sadhana: The Realisation of LIfe
"Rabindranath Tagore explores some of the most found question of life as he reveals the meaning of spiritual practice. 'The man who has his spiritual eyes open knows that the ultimate truth about earth and water lies in the apprehension of the eternal will which works in time and takes shape in the forces we realize under those aspects. This is not mere knowledge, as science is, but it is a perception of the soul by the soul. This does not lead us to power, as knowledge does, but it gives us joy, which is the product of kindred things. The man whose acquaintance with the world does not lead deeper than science leads him, will never understand what it is that the man with the spiritual vision finds in these natural phenomena. The water does not merely cleanse his limbs, but it purifies his heart; for it touches his soul. The earth does not merely hold his body, but it gladdens his mind; for its contact is more than a physical contact, -it is a living presence.”"

Rabindranath Tagore: A BBC Radio Collection: Including The Home and the World & The Red Oleander
"A comprehensive anthology of dramatisations and readings of Tagore's finest works, plus bonus documentaries Bengali polymath Rabindranath Tagore was the first non-European to win the Nobel Prize for Literature. A novelist, poet, playwright, composer, artist and philosopher, he wrote both the Indian and Bangladeshi national anthems; exchanged ideas with Yeats, Einstein and Gandhi, and was hugely influential in promoting Indian culture to the West. This collection includes some of Tagore's key novels, plays and short stories, as well as his best-known poem and four fascinating biographical programmes. We begin with two adaptations by award-winning dramatist Tanika Gupta. The Home and the World, starring Indira Varma and Sacha Dhawan, relocates Tagore's classic 1916 novel of love, power and political awakening to a contemporary British Muslim setting. Often acclaimed as Tagore's best play, The Red Oleander stars Saeed Jaffrey and Aileen Gonsalves, and tells the story of a beautiful girl who comes to a gold mining community and foments a revolution against its tyrannical king. Next up is a dramatisation of the novelette Farewell, My Friend, a romantic, delightful tale of two young lovers starring Sam Dastor and Shireen Shah. It is followed by three short stories: 'The Postmaster' and 'The Kabuliwalah', read by Ronny Jhutti, and 'Wealth Surrendered', read by Renu Setna. Tagore bared his musical soul in the poem 'Broken Song', read here by Peter Barker, and in Centurions: Rabindranath Tagore, poet William Radice and theatre director Jatinder Verma explain why it ranks as one of the 100 greatest art works of the 20th Century. Tanika Gupta joins presenter Matthew Parris and translator Ketaki Kushari Dyson to share her love of Tagore's writing in Great Lives: Tanika Gupta on Rabindranath Tagore, and Zia Mohyeddin reads a selection of his epistolary observations on English society and customs in Letters from Europe. Concluding the collection, Rabindranath Tagore: The Bard of Bengal explores the life and legacy of South Asia's Shakespeare.
