Diese gerade einmal etwa 100 Seiten zählende Abhandlung, an der Wittgenstein 7 Jahre gearbeitet hat, ist nicht nur einer der Meilensteine der modernen Sprachphilosophie, sondern besitzt heute den Rang eines Klassikers der Philosophie überhaupt. In einem ihm ganz eigenen apodiktischen wie enigmatischen Stil verfasst, enthält es Sätze, die über die Philosophie hinaus hohen Bekanntheitsgrad erlangt haben und bis heute viel und gern zitiert werden. Der vielleicht berühmteste Satz der Abhandlung ist dieser: «Wovon man nicht sprechen kann, darüber muss man schweigen».
Endlich, möchte man sagen, liegt mit diesem Hörbuch der «Tractatus» auch als Hörbuch in deutscher Sprache vor. Dabei bietet das Hörbuch über den Text der Abhandlung hinaus einen integrierten Kommentar, der die einzelnen Passagen erläutert und reflektiert. Abgerundet wird das Hörbuch mit dem umfangreichen Essay «Die Gnade der Tatsachen», welcher die in Teilen abenteuerliche Entstehungs- und Veröffentlichungsgeschichte der logisch-philosophischen Abhandlung chronologisch nachzeichnet und zeigt, dass die Tatsache, den Tractatus heute lesen und hören zu können, an sich unwahrscheinlicher ist als die Möglichkeit seiner Nichtexistenz. Insofern passt es besonders für dieses Werk zu sagen, dass es ein Glücksfall ist.

"Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus is the only book-length philosophical work published by the Austrian philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein during his lifetime. He wrote it as a soldier and a prisoner of war during World War I. The slim volume (fewer than eighty pages) comprises a system of short statements, numbered 1, 1.1, 1.11, 1.12, etc., through to 7, intended to be such that 1.1 is a comment on or elaboration of 1, 1.11 and 1.12 comments on 1.1, and so forth.
