An easy read with a continental flavour. The book is set in Andalucia, mainly Ronda, and Madrid, and is the second book featuring Leon Prado the Spanish detective. The story centres on a Spanish family who are very involved in bullfighting and its traditions. We are given many facts about bullfighting, the author is obviously very knowledgeable and I found it rather interesting. However, for me overall, there was too much descriptive language throughout the book. The story deals with the ethical problem of whether bulls should be killed in a bullfight,or is there a more humane solution? There are two opposing factions which inevitably lead to conflict and tragedy. Leon Prado works with an English couple to uncover the culprit. This was an easy read and generally I enjoyed the book, although I do like my reading to be a bit grittier and darker. Sometimes the book read more like a travelogue with lots of place description, but overall a well paced novel with interesting characters.
